The most popular travel destination in Spain, Barcelona has it all. From Gaudi’s incredible architecture to the sunny beaches and fantastic restaurants, you’ll find something for everyone in Spain’s second capital.

The Sights – Without a doubt the most popular attractions in Barcelona are Gaudi’s masterpieces. From the fantastic Parc Guell, home to scores of his works, to the breathtaking La Sagrada Familia, a cathedral situated in the centre of the city itself. As well as his well known works, Gaudi designed many other artworks which can be spotted around the city, such as his enjoyable mosaics, of which there are many. On top of these architectural delights is the bonus of having Barcelona sitting by the sea, allowing holiday-goers the pleasure of sightseeing and sunbathing in one day. The climate is agreeable so the beach can be enjoyed for trips outside of summer, check out airlines like Monarch for cheap flights to Barcelona, both in and out of season.

The Accommodation – Barcelona meets its high demand for hotels and rental properties with excellent standards of accommodation. From the incredibly expensive hotels such as the Grand Marina hotel, located on the seafront and top of the list for luxury and innovative design. You will also find some great and more affordable hotels, one of the most popular being the Hotel Gaudi. If you’re looking to do a trip to Barcelona on a budget then you’d do well to look for hotels slightly outside the centre and away from the seafront, as the areas will be less touristy and therefore more affordable.

The Food – One of the high points of holidays in Spain is the fantastic cuisine which is readily available, and for great prices to. The traditional meal of tapas dishes is great for tourists and groups of visitors as it allows you to sample many different delicacies in one sitting. Barcelona is home to the usual mix of expensive eateries as well as cosy little traditional restaurants, and with a little searching you can find great restaurants a little away from the main areas which will be both quieter and cheaper. Happy holidays!
